The meditative tradition and practices that are taught here come out of the Christian mystical tradition of a thousand years ago. With its powerful and deep meditation practices, it has little to do with the Christianity of today. The focus is to become a skillful practitioner and a more "awake" human.
Today's practices are most like the mystic traditions of the Sufis, Jewish mysticism, and Christian mysticism of the eleventh and twelfth centuries. It is a lot like the traditions that came out of Toledo, Northern Spain and Southern France.
Coming from Western Europe, this practice is well suited to Americans. There are no altars to make for Indian gurus or Tibetan lamas.
There is no special language or phrases to learn. There are no unknown deities that need a place in your home. It is a tradition that all can be very comfortable with.
The branch of meditative wisdom that is taught here is the tradition that the senior meditation teacher grew up in, was trained in, and has practiced all his life.
It is a tradition he knows to its core.
Your meditative journey is allowed to advance at its own speed. The deeper aspects of the practices will be given as you need and want them.
